Both my mother and father were California artists. My first memories are of interesting people in our home. There was always art, literature and music.
I followed in my parents footsteps and graduated from California College of the Arts (CCA) with a Bachelors of Fine Arts. To my delight, both of my daughters are also artists, with my eldest daughter graduating from CCA with a degree in Graphic Design. Three generations, not bad.
I have always been fascinated with the human figure. In my Girls Taken series I work with the unspoken emotions, the untold story, symbolism, and the challenge of light and dark across underlying anatomy.
This artistic journey has led me to abstract my art. I have become aware of loving the unknown journey. The process of allowing the painting to emerge from spirit.
My cloud series is an ongoing study of skylines, color and abstraction. My favorite skies are the fast changing ones. The kind of moment I have to catch.
My main love is acrylics, though I also work in oils and pastels. I have taught acrylics, mixed media, and pastel techniques for many years at Kirkland Arts Center, in Washington State.
